Translation: Harenochi Tokidoki Ryuusei (The Alfee)

I don't feel like posting anything else, so here's some more Alfee.

The fourth track from the örb album is one of those initially impenetrable but fascinating metaphors. By the final verse ("We loved each other more than life...") it becomes more clear what the "shooting star" represents. It's really a lovely, thoughtful song.

Not much else to say about it. No YouTube link this time; just enjoy the lovely poetry below the cut.

Song Title: Harenochi Tokidoki Ryuusei (When the Sky Clears, Sometimes a Shooting Star Falls)
Artist: The Alfee
Album: örb

sugisaru toki yo kimi ha
kodoku na yoru ni umare
nemurenai yoru ni tatazumi
boku wo nagusamete kureru

Oh, Time that passes by!
You were born on lonely nights
And on sleepless nights, you stop a while
And come to comfort me

harenochi tokidoki ryuusei
hikari no ame ni utarete
daremo ga guuzen deai
tomadoi tokimeku

When the sky clears, sometimes, a shooting star falls
And strikes in a rain of light
Everyone faces these chance encounters
With hearts uncertain

dorehodo no kuyashisa ni
kizutsuite kita no ka
koukai no namida subete wo
toki ha nagusamete kureru

I wonder, how much hardship
Have I come to endure?
Yet time will surely wipe away
All these regretful tears

harenochi tokidoki ryuusei
hikari no ame no naka de
daremo ga kidzuiteku
hontou no jibun no sugata ni

When the sky clears, sometimes, a shooting star falls
And within that rain of light
Everyone starts to become aware
Of who they really are

yasashisa ga tsumi ni naru
yakusoku wo hatasenai mama
furueru sono senaka de
omoide ga naite iru

Kindness becomes cruelty
When a promise is left unkept
Though the memories are now behind you
As you tremble, they still weep

TURURURU...
TURURURU... Time is on my side
TURURURU...
TURURURU... Time is on my side

samishisa ni ha naretemo
kodoku ni naritaku nai
toki yo kimi ha itsumademo
kono kokoro wo iyashite

I've grown used to loneliness
Yet I don't want to be alone
Oh, Time! Promise to always
Be a balm upon my soul

kumorinochi tokidoki ryuusei
jikan no mahou no naka de
yorokobi kanashimi ... urei
hito ha jibun wo ikiteku

When the sky clouds, sometimes, a shooting star falls
And in the magic of that moment
One finds joy, sorrow... and gloom
And begins to live as oneself

tasogare no setsunasa
mayonaka no tameiki
keshisaru you ni kyou mo hi ga noboru

The pain of twilight
The sighs of midnight
Are wiped clean by the rising of the new day's sun

dareyorimo aishiatte
koko made futari kita keredo
doushitemo ashita he no
michishirube mitsukaranai

We loved each other more than life
We came this far together, and yet
We just can't find the signpost
That points us to tomorrow

yasashisa ga tsumi ni naru
yakusoku wo hatasenai mama
jikan dake sugite yuku
furuete iru sono senaka de
omoidetachi shizuka ni ai wo nageku yo

Kindness becomes cruelty
When a promise is left unkept
But the hours are all that pass
And though the memories are all far behind you
As you tremble, softly, they still grieve for love

TURURURU...
TURURURU... Time is on my side
TURURURU...
TURURURU... Time is on my side

harenochi tokidoki ryuusei kagayaku
sono mune ni ima

When the sky clears, sometimes, a shooting star falls
It shines in your heart, even now
